The region of Hauts de France was created by the merger of
Nord Pas de Calais and Picardy in 2016 and has Lille as it’s regional capital.

Many travellers will arrive in France in this region via Calais with their car or by Eurostar train.

It is a region of nature, culture and traditions with ample walks, sightseeing and many miles of fine sandy beaches. Bird lovers will not want to miss a visit to the famous Bay of Somme where you may also see a colony of harbour seals.

The cities of Boulogne, Cambrai, Laon, Lille and Roubaix are for those interested in art and history as they contain many cultural and architectural treasures. Visit the wonderful castles of Chantilly, Compiegne and Pierrefonds, and the Gothic cathedrals at Amiens and Beauvais.

Arras is a must whilst in the region. This beautiful city is a fabulous, atmospheric and architecturally stunning place to visit which was decimated during World War 1 and completely rebuilt.

The region is also very well known for those wishing to visit the many battlefields and memorials associated with the two World Wars.
