The Great Coast to Coast Crossing – From the Atlantic to the Mediterranean

This exclusive tour starts in the charming seaside town of Lacanau on the Atlantic coast and leads you through some of the most iconic vineyards, villages, towns and cities of this corner of France. Your tour ends in Narbonne on the Mediterranean.

Itinerary

  • DAY 1  – Arrival at Bordeaux Airport & private transfer to Lacanau where you will meet our rep, get your bikes & check-in to hotel and enjoy the beautiful long sandy Atlantic beach
  • DAY 2  – Make your way through Medoc towards Bordeaux on the cycle path – overnight in town centre – approx 68km
  • DAY 3  – Cycle through the city on the tow paths to the heart of the best vineyards of the Bordelais region – approx 41km
  • DAY 4  – Discover the small villages, rolling hills, churches, castles. Your overnight is in a charming Chambre d’Hote that produces its own wine – approx 40km
  • DAY 5  – Join the Garonne Canal. Cycle the tree lined towpath and enjoy the tranquil setting and rich wildlife with charming waterside villages – approx 59km
  • DAY 6  – Back to the canal leading through the Pruneaux d’Agen country and the charming town of Agen – a perfect place for a spot of lunch on the terrace of a canal side cafe – approx 48km
  • DAY 7  – Today you will enjoy the Moissac area, renown for its medieval villages, churches and great markets selling local produce – approx 40km
  • DAY 8  – This is where you leave the Garonne Canal and join the Canal du Midi. You will have time to explore the pink city of Toulouse where you will overnight – approx 42km
  • DAY 9  – Make your way from Toulouse along the iconic Canal du Midi and enjoy the wonderful vistas and townscapes leading to Castelnaudary – approx 60km
  • DAY 10 – Continue of the Canal du Midi tow path, through the vineyards and on to the Carcassonne. Discover the walled town, its citadelle and amazing ramparts – approx 41km
  • DAY 11 – Today you will discover Carcassonne’s surrounding area. This is a stunning route taking you through vineyards, Chateaux and for the more energetic a visit of the Limousin – approx 47km
  • DAY 12 – This is the longest stretch of the journey. Vineyards are plenty – perfect for a few “degustations” along the way to keep you energised. Along the Canal de la Robine to Narbonne – approx 75km
  • DAY 13 – This is a great day to discover the town of Narbonne then head to the coast and the wonderful white sand beaches – approx 48km (or 24km if you want to take the train back to Narbonne)
  • DAY 14 – Make your way to Narbonne station for your train to Toulouse. Overnight in Toulouse.
  • DAY 15 – Private transfer from your hotel to Toulouse airport for your return flight to the UK
