Pays de la Loire

The Pays de la Loire is crisscrossed with majestic rivers
making their way to the ocean.

Pays de la Loire

On the western Atlantic coast, the fashionable resort of La Baule has a magnificent beach and a well known casino. The beautiful town of Angers, once seat of the Plantagenet dynasty and seat of the dukes of Anjou is a lively university city. The centre is mostly pedestrianised and has a thriving cafe culture.

Angers is famous for two sets of amazing 14th and more recent 20th century tapestries – both depicting the Apocalypse and the final battle between good and evil. Although made famous for the nearby circuit that hosts the 24hour motorcar race, Le Mans is notable for its well maintained medieval and renaissance buildings. The old town is considered as the most beautifully preserved old quarters in Europe.
